PTC Live Global 2015

Published: Fri 12 June 2015 | by Nigel Chadwick

Stream Technologies had the opportunity to sponsor the PTC Live Global 2015 event this past week in Nashville, Tennessee.

The event began Sunday night with a reception in the Solutions Expo, where attendees mingled with food and drink while exploring exhibitors' products and services, along with live demos and a student robotics competition. In the IoT Pavilion, Stream had a booth demonstrating our ThingWorx ready platform using Stream's IoT-X platform.

The official start of the conference began Monday at the famous Grand Ole Opry with speeches by PTC CEO Jim Heppleman and PTC Vice Presidents, introducing the latest developments including connected devices, which drove excitement for IoT products and services utilizing the ThingWorx platform. Following PTC was Brynn Watson from Lockheed Martin describing the Orion Spacecraft and Bestselling author Malcolm Gladwell, who gave a compelling, inspirational talk about how to remain competitive today.

Remaining days included breakout sessions where PTC leaders, partners, and customers shared insights and spurred discussions about best practices utilizing PTC products. Highlights included a presentation by John Canosa, Chief Strategist of ThingWorx, on the subject of IoT Connectivity. Tuesday afternoon Stream hosted a demo of our ThingWorx mashup and explanation of how "StreamWorx makes ThingWorx connectivity aware."

As Nashville is nicknamed "Music City", famous for country music, I couldn't pass up an opportunity to see a live country music performance! I headed back to the Grand Ole Opry for the "Tuesday Night Opry" live radio show featuring current and legendary country stars such as Bill Anderson, Carrie Underwood, and... Arnold Schwarzenegger?? (Arnold was in Nashville to co-host the Country Music Awards.) If you're wondering, yes, he said it, "I'll be back!"
